CHALLENGE
Leveraging the text and curated photography from Karl Blossfeldt: Masters of the Camera, design a photography book that celebrates the artist’s work through a modern lens. The final piece must balance the prominence of the photography while being visually engaging for the reader.
APPROACH
Karl Blossfeldt’s photography possesses a distinct, dramatic quality. His pieces use high-contrast lighting that transforms simple botanical studies into architectural works of art. I chose to amplify this through dramatic shifts in scale and delicate typesetting in order to make the typography feel like an extension of the photos.
By pairing contrasting typefaces with precise linework, I created a compositional rhythm that guides the viewer through the book.
